My Interest in This Young Adult Fiction:

People I know have read the book or have it on their to-read list.  I’m a little late to this one, but thought I would read it anyway and share here for others who have not yet read it.

Ideas Expressed/Message/Plot:

I do not want to spoil anything with giving too many details about the plot, so to be cryptic, it is a story of young love, wealthy sibling rivalry, family summers at the beach, and learning to cope with one’s choices and actions.

As a young adult novel, it was a quick read that kept me engaged and interested. I didn’t want to put it down. I could have read it in one sitting, but I did have other things to do.

Notes/Comments:

I am trying not to give anything away here.  I like the book. The pace of it kept me interested and the plot moves along quickly.  The style of writing also helps keep the book moving along – the short phrases and repetition – mimicking perhaps the way the brain thinks since that is where parts of the book take place – inside Cadence’s mind as she tries to make sense of her accident.  I thought it was clever manipulation of the setting.

I consider the book a good recommendation for young adults.

Other Young Adult Fiction and Novels to read by this author:

Genuine Fraud, Fly on the Wall, The Boyfriend List, The Boy Book, Dramarama, The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, How to Be Bad,The Treasure Map of Boys and Real Live Boyfriends
