Daffodils in Bloom – Happy Spring!

Daffodils are everywhere! So glad to see these early signs of spring. My last post was an update during our February snow and bitter cold event. In the following weeks, spring has sprung here, and I have strolled around our property enjoying the budding bushes and the array of daffodils (along with a couple of tick attackers – we have to take the bad with the good, I guess). This time last year was quite different as we all were hunkered down in our own places, not knowing the extent of the pandemic and how long it would last. Times of uncertainty, change, and fear…

Why Not Check In Today?

Just checking in with this post.  I have nothing useful, reminiscent, or crazy that I am able to share right now.  Not really inclined to do another book recommendation, although I have been reading a lot.  I haven’t really gone anywhere or done anything that is out of the routine.  Still have my sweet grandson a couple of days a week, and he keeps me sane and breaks up the routine of every other day that I do not see him.  So, I thought, why not just write a “check-in” post?  I know many are experiencing “Groundhog Day” syndrome – is that a thing?  I’ll…

First Novel of the Year Recommendation

The first novel I read for 2021 is Where the Crawdads Sing. When I post about books, I am not really giving a review of the books (that is much more involved). I am just sharing my reading experience with you and my overall thoughts on the book. Most of last year I spent reading the Armand Gamache series by Louis Penny, and I am proud to say I have read all of them! They are a great escape, but now I must move one to other books (until, of course, the next Gamache book is published). Book title: Where the Crawdads Sing Author: Delia…

Goal List 2020 – Time to Review

January 6, 2020, I posted my goal list for the year. Then, 2020 happened. Let’s see… Personal Goals The Artist’s Way Goal I started working through The Artist’s Way in November.  A friend and I decided to work through it together at the same time so that we not only had someone to whom we would be accountable but also someone with whom we could talk through thoughts and ideas.  A goal for this year is to finish working through the book. (This one also counts as a professional goal for me.) Update 12/31/2020:  I finished Chapter 12 and completed the tasks on 12/30.  I…

Day Trip #1 – Exploring Arkansas

My husband and I decided to take a day trip on Labor Day. The three day weekend afforded the opportunity to take the day and start our goal of exploring Arkansas. There is so much in our state, such beautiful and interesting places, so we decided it would be a good idea to just explore our own state for the next few months. A Trip Down the Pig Trail Scenic Byway One of the prettiest drives in Arkansas is Highway 23, also known as the Pig Trail Scenic Byway. It is a popular route in the state. Since we live in Fayetteville, we joined the…
